Course content
The division of radiological methods. Contrast agents used in the diagnosis, an adverse reaction to them. Care principles of the sick in these incidents. General oncology - carcinogenesis, characteristics of the growth of the tumor, tumor nomenclature. Overview of the risk factors of developing tumors, the principles of primary prevention and early detection of malignant diseases. Statistical methods in oncology, evaluation of the treatment results. Basic therapeutic methods in oncology - surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, biotherapy. Complications of anticancer therapy, risk factors, nursing care methods for the sick. The quality of life of cancer patients, prevention and management of deterioration in the quality of life of cancer patients. Spa and reconditioning care. Sources of ionizing radiation in radiotherapy. Protection against the effects of ionizing radiation. Legislation in the field of radiation protection, responsibility in using the sources of ionizing radiation. Safety when working with cytostatics.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to provide the students with the most important information from the disciplines of oncology and radiology. Furthermore, to acquaint students with the epidemiology of tumors in the Czech republic and the specific issues of cancer from individual clinical branches.
Student knows the general and specific issues of the cancer including diagnostics, treatment and principles of cancer patients. Student knows basic division of radiological methods and well-versed in the issues of the protection against the effects of ionizing radiation, including the applicable legislation related to this topic.
