Course content
|
Bleeding, fundamentals of infusion therapy. Shock. Parenteral and enteral nutrition. Intoxication, nosocomial infection. Care of failing organs. Brain death, the transplantation program.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim is to acquire knowledge and skills in the area of intensive care and anaesthesia.
The student will gain basic dexterity for conducting first aid that is safe and of good quality. Students will know individual steps of an urgent admission including securement of respiratory pathways. Furthermore, they will know fundamentals of treatment of severe bleeding. In the field of intensive care, students will get familiar with artificial lung ventilation, specifics of infusion therapy, parenteral and enteral nutrition, intoxication, organ failure treatment, determination of brain death, and organ donation.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Oral examination
Completion of compulsory 85% attendance at the practicum sessions and seminars. Successful completion of an oral examination.
