Course content
The position of oncology in clinical medicine, cancer epidemiology in the Czech Republic. Cancer diagnostics. Oncological treatment - surgical, medical, radiotherapy. The most common oncological diagnoses. Diseases of the red and white blood line. Bone marrow transplantation. Vascular accesses in oncology. System of care for cancer patients, counselling, prevention. Nursing care of patients with chemotherapy and biological therapy. Nursing care of patients with radiotherapy. Nursing care of patients with pain. Nursing care of patients with a blood disorder before and after a bone marrow transplantation. Nursing care for short-term, medium-term and long-term vascular accesses of oncological patients.

Learning outcomes
The aim is to introduce students to basic information in the fields of clinical oncology and clinical haematology.
Students learn the symptomatology, diagnosis, treatment, and principles of nursing care for patients with blood diseases and oncological diagnosis. Students are able to plan, implement and evaluate the nursing process with respect to the specifics of each diagnosis and a type of cancer treatment.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Student performance assessment

80 % compulsory attendance in seminars. 50 % compulsory attendance in lectures. Passing a written credit assignment. Passing an oral exam.
