Course content
Objectives and conceptions of health policies. World Health Organization, its objectives, tasks and importance. Health care as a system. Health care systems in Europe and elsewhere in the world. Contemporary situation in the Czech Republic - authorities, health insurances, health care providers, recipients of health care. Types and forms of health care in the Czech Republic. System of health care facilities in the Czech Republic. Financing of health care system, methods of reimbursement to health care providers. Public health insurance, basic principles and rules.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to give students information about the essence of health care systems in selected countries of the European Union and throughout the world and to acquaint them with the current situation in the Czech Republic.
Students will be acquainted with a general framework of the system of health care. Students will be able to assess and compare differences between different health care systems in the world. Students will orientate themselves in the current state of health care in the Czech Republic including relevant legislature based on critical analysis, evaluation and synthesis.
