Course content
Introduction into the subject. Coronary heart disease - causes, clinical presentation, diagnostics, treatment options, dietotherapy, complications, prevention. Arrhythmia. Inflammatory heart Diseases. Arterial hypertension. Pulmonary embolism. Pulmonary hypertension. Congestive heart failure. Artery and vein diseases. Specifics of nursing care in cardiology department. Specialized nursing care for patients with coronary heart disease, physical examination by a nurse, needs analysis of a patient, identifying nursing challenges, plan of nursing interventions, education in regime interventions, options of implementation, consultancy. Specialized nursing care for patients with arrhythmia. Specialized nursing care for patients with arterial hypertension. Specialized nursing care for patients with pulmonary embolism. Specialized nursing care for patients with pulmonary hypertension. Specialized nursing care for patients with artery and vein diseases.

Learning outcomes
The objective of the subject is to acquaint students with specifics of diseases of cardiovascular system and with the issues of working in cardiological department, including specialized units (coronary and arrhythmological) and outpatient department.
Students will learn diagnostics, treatment, and principles of nursing care in patients with selected diseases of cardiovascular system. Students will be able to plan, implement, and assess nursing process with regard to its specifics. Students will be prepared to educate and advice in the field of cardiology.
