Course content
Scientific research - quantitative and qualitative research. Principles of scientific research. Conceptualization of research. Research objectives, hypotheses, questions. Choice of research method. Research sample. Quantitative research strategies - data collection tools, principles of questionnaire design. Introduction to statistical data processing. Descriptive statistics. Qualitative research strategies - data collection, processing, and analysis. Data collection methods - creating questionnaires, observation forms. Descriptive statistics. Creating tables and graphs. Data collection methods - semi-structured interviews, transcription, coding, analysis. Presentation of qualitative study results.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the basic concepts of scientific research methodology, the basic methods of data collection and processing within the quantitative and qualitative approaches, and to offer them practical experience with basic research techniques and working with the collected data, including the interpretation of results.
Students are familiar with terminology from the field of scientific research methodology, research methods, and data collection techniques. They are able to appropriately select research strategies and data collection tools and subsequently evaluate and interpret data.

Written examination

Compliance with the mandatory attendance requirements for seminars and lectures. Passing a written test or oral examination, or other conditions, as decided by the course guarantor. Completing a term assignment.
