Course content
|
Introduction, aging, theories of ontogenesis, changes in the body. Special features of diseases in old age, aging-associated diseases. Special features of pharmacotherapy in old age. Social aspects. Spiritual aspects of the older people. Mental disorders in old age. Immobilization syndrome, pressure ulcers. New perspectives on wound healing and treatment.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to give students basic knowledge in the field of gerontology and to draw attention to the peculiarities of diseases in old age, both in general view and for specific groups of diseases. Within the framework of complexity, the subject includes social issues.
The student knows characteristic changes associated with aging, is familiar with issues concerning psyche of seniors and pharmacological specificity, he/she knows manifestations of immobilization syndrome and its complications, and understands social aspects of aging.

|
Oral examination
Compliance with the mandatory 80% participation in lectures and exercises. Compliance with the oral test.
