Course content
|
Bleeding, fundamentals of infusion therapy. Shock. Parenteral and enteral nutrition. Intoxication, nosocomial infection. Care of failing organs. Brain death, the transplantation program. Tracheostomy - preparation of aids, assistance and follow-up care about a tracheostomy cannula. Invasive patient monitoring for ARO (arterial catheter, measurement of intracranial pressure, mean arterial pressure, intra-abdominal pressure).

Learning outcomes
|
The aim is to acquire knowledge and skills in the area of intensive care and resuscitation care.
The student will gain basic dexterity for conducting first aid that is safe and of good quality. Students will know individual steps of an urgent admission including securement of respiratory pathways. Furthermore, they will know fundamentals of treatment of severe bleeding and fundamentals of anaesthesiology and of urgent resuscitation.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Oral examination
Completion of compulsory 80% attendance at the practicum sessions. Completion of practical credit. Successful completion of an oral examination.
