Course content

Introduction, history of the field of general psychiatry. Organic mental disorders. Endogenic mental disorders. Therapy in psychiatry. Alcoholism and other drug addictions. Child and adolescent psychiatry. Disorders of food intake. Gerontopsychiatry. Community care.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the subject is to acquaint students with the preventive, therapeutic, and nursing issues of psychiatric patients and to emphasize the special features of care of such patients.
The student will learn to evaluate current clinical conditions in psychiatry, will become familiar with diagnostic procedures, tests, and standard treatment, will learn to establish standard nursing diagnoses and interventions for individual clinical conditions, and will learn to plan individual nursing care for psychiatric patients

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Oral examination, Student performance assessment
Completion of compulsory 50% attendance at the lectures. Completion of compulsory 80% attendance at the practicum sessions and seminars. Successful completion of a written test or an oral examination according to the course guarantor's decision.
