Course content
Transcultural nursing, its importance, scope, and historical perspectives. Definition of the concept of transcultural nursing and its dimensions. The use of culturally specific nursing models. Foreigners in the CR and the issue of integration and health care. Characteristics of the health care delivery system in the CR, the rights and responsibilities of foreigners while utilizing health care, valid legal norms and international agreements. Differences between the health care system in the Czech Republic and the health care system in the countries which the majority of immigrants to the CR are hailing from. National and ethnic minorities. The person's spiritual life. Communication and language barriers. Presentation of the most interesting of seminar papers and subsequent discussion.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to master terminology used in multicultural nursing, to become familiar with the health care system for foreigners, valid legal regulations, and international agreements.
The student identifies intercultural communication options and their practical applications. He/she is able to plan, implement, and evaluate the nursing process in the care of the patient with respect to his/her ethnic, cultural, and spiritual specifics of another nationality or ethnic minority using a health care team approach.

Home assignment evaluation, Student performance assessment, Didactic test

Completion of compulsory 80% attendance at the practicum sessions and and 70% participation in lectures. Completing assigned written work. Successful completion of a written test.
