Course content
Characteristics of the nursing process (NP), the 1st phase of the NP - assessment - nursing history, physical assessment. Diagnosis - the second phase of the NP, analysis of the data, formulation of nursing diagnoses, and NANDA taxonomy. Planning - the third phase of the NP, planning, establishing priorities, goals, interventions, and creating a nursing care plan. Implementation of nursing care - the fourth phase of the NP, types of nursing activities, evaluation - the fifth phase of the NP, validation of the nursing care plan. Human needs (in general), the needs of the ill person. The need to breathe. Factors influencing oxygenation. Nursing diagnoses related to the need to breathe. Nutritional needs - basic nutrients, factors influencing nutrition. Nursing diagnoses related to nutritional needs. The need for body mobility. Activities and exercises. Falls. Evaluation of the patient's self-sufficiency level. Nursing diagnoses related to the need for mobility. Elimination needs and disorders of elimination of urine and stool. Nursing diagnoses related to elimination needs. Personal hygiene needs. Nursing diagnoses related to hygiene needs. The need for rest and sleep. Factors influencing sleep and sleep disorders. Nursing diagnoses related to sleep disorders. The need to be pain-free. Well-being. Acute and chronic pain. Nursing diagnoses related to pain. Safety and security needs - factors influencing safety and security, and psychological response to unmet needs. Nursing diagnoses related to safety and security needs. The need for self-concept, self-esteem, self-fulfilment - factors influencing self-concept. Nursing diagnoses related to the needs for self-concept. Nursing process - using case reports, writing medical history, problem analysis based on medical history, determining formulating nursing diagnosis, prioritizing diagnosis. Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is to acquaint students with the theory of the nursing process (NP), the issue of human needs and their classification.
Students gain theoretical knowledge about the nursing process and its individual phases. They learn to use the nursing process in practice and to understand its individual phases. They get acquainted with the issue of human needs. They gain information on the basic bio-psycho-social-spiritual needs of the person. And they gain knowledge and skills that are necessary while meeting various needs of individuals.

Completion of compulsory 60% attendance at the lectures, 80% at the practicum sessions.
