Course content
|
The subject of pharmacology, division, basic terms. The fundamentals of pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics. Substances affecting the peripheral and central nervous system. Medications affecting pain and inflammation. Medications affecting the smooth muscle. Substances affecting the cardiovascular system. Medications affecting the GI system and the urinary system. Medications for diseases of the respiratory pathways. Antimicrobial substances, antiviral agents. Drugs, classification, groups of medications. Effects at the molecular level and at the level of tissues and systems. Pharmacokinetic actions, pharmacokinetic parameters. Factors affecting the organism in response to an administered drug. The patient's reactions to an administered drug, indications, contraindications. Introduction of a new medication: medical use. Products for disinfection, antiseptics. Drug intoxication - treatment options. Final seminar: students' PP presentations on the topic: Drug or substance intoxication - symptoms, diagnostics, pre-hospital assistance.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the subject is to acquire basic knowledge from the area of general and special pharmacology, usable in the provision of procedures as part of pre-hospital care and for life-threatening conditions, including substance and drug intoxications.
Students know the basic groups of medications, their indications, contraindications, desirable as well as undesirable effects. They are able to recognize the symptoms of intoxication from medications and know the procedure for pre-hospital assistance.

Assessment methods and criteria

Oral examination, Home assignment evaluation, Didactic test
Completion of compulsory 60% attendance at the lectures, seminars and practicum sessions. Completing assigned written work. Successful completion of a written test or an oral examination according to the course guarantor's decision.
