Course content
|
Principles of primary urine production, dilution of urine concentration. Motor and sensitive functions. Vigilance, sleep. Thermoregulation. Basic components of nutrition, metabolic demands of an organism, starvation. Malnutrition and the immune system response. Dietology, enteral nutrition. Parenteral nutrition, a diabetic receiving artificial nutrition. Obesity, weight reduction, antioxidants. Nutrition in pregnancy.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim is to get students acquainted with the physiological functions of tissues and organs and the mechanisms applied in their management and maintenance of homeostasis. Clinical nutrition focuses on metabolic changes during starvation, the share of nutrition in the development of civilization diseases, dietary recommendations and special procedures in the application of artificial nutrition.
Students know the basic functions and regulations of individual systems, including the necessary terminology. They are able to derive basic clinical actions resulting from disorders and causes of functional changes of the organism.
