Concept and characteristics of Nursing. Development of nursing in the Czech Republic and abroad. Professional education and competences. Professional organisations in nursing. Nursing process. Basic nursing models - M. Gordonová. Nursing documentation and administrative activities in healthcare. Home care Quality and safety of healthcare. Standards and audits in nursing care. Accreditation, certification, total quality management in nursing. Nursing unit (excursion in a healthcare facility). Barrier nursing care. Evidence-based nursing. Ethics in nursing. Transcultural nursing. Practical training - information gathering (focusing on basic, physiological, psychosocial and spiritual needs). Practical training - nursing process, case study and documentation.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the origin and development of nursing, the characteristics of the field as an independent scientific discipline and the concept of Czech nursing, to learn about the safety and quality of nursing care and the basics of multicultural nursing.
Students learn to use the method of the nursing process and to understand the different stages of the nursing process. In addition, students get acquainted with the issue of human needs. They learn about the basic bio-psycho-social-spiritual needs of human beings and acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to meet individual needs.

Written examination
Specified compulsory attendance in seminars and lectures. Passing a written test or an oral exam, or other conditions, as decided by the course guarantor.
