Course content
Disturbances in interpersonal communication, communication with problematic types of individuals. Communication with clients with serious illness, with dying , the bereaved families. Intercultural communication. Specifics of communication with clients at various stages of evolution. Augmentative and alternative communication. Communications in selected clinical areas. Intercultural communication problems, means facilitating intercultural communication. Interdisciplinary communication. Creating communication material for clients within resource augmentative and alternative communication.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to provide the students the basic information about the nature of interpersonal communication, focusing on its using in relation to clients of healthcare services. By completing the course students should acquire not only the required content of theoretical knowledge, but also communication skills, enabling him/ her to professional conduct in various situations in working with clients and their loved ones.
Student applies his/ her knowledge and experience gained during lectures and seminars into practice, manages to communicate with people across all age groups as well as the communication with problematic types of individuals. Student can solve conflicts and problems using assertive techniques. In practice we use augmentative and alternative communication techniques.
