Course content
Psychotherapy directions and schools. Definition, characteristics, indications and goals of psychotherapy. Psychotherapy in the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation. The active factors of psychotherapy. The therapeutic relationship and working alliance. The process of change in psychotherapy. A psychotherapeutic process and treatment. Ethics and training in psychotherapy. Methods of psychotherapy - the characteristics, options, use. Psychotherapy in the treatment, prophylaxis and rehabilitation. Peculiarities of psychotherapy - the main methods, resources for children and youth, for seniors. Psychotherapeutic first aid and crisis intervention. Self-experience psychotherapeutic training with elements of the process-oriented and Cognitive Behavioral psychotherapy. The defense of theses.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the main psychotherapy schools, the general issues of psychotherapy, using selected psychotherapeutic methods and techniques in the comprehensive care of clients with an emphasis on the options of prevention, therapy and rehabilitation. In the practical part of teaching is the aim to convey the elemental experience of group work emanating from the humanistic and Cognitive Behavioral psychotherapy with an emphasis on their possible application in practice.
Student is versed in the issue of the general questions of psychotherapy, can apply the basic knowledge from the field of psychotherapy in the practical activities of the medical social worker.

The fulfilment of compulsory attendance at lectures and seminars. Written test or oral exam fulfilment according to course guarantor decision.
