Course content
|
The issue of hygiene, epidemiology, microbiology and prevention related to pre-sterilization preparation and sterilization of medical devices. Medical devices. Pre-sterilization preparation - disinfection procedures in pre-operative care. Pre-sterilization preparation - check the functionality of the instruments and their treatment, doing sets and packaging. Methods of sterilization. Control systems for disinfectant and sterilization process. Control and management of pre-sterilization preparation documentation, the sterilization process in pre-operative care. The location, the spatial layout and technological equipment of central sterilization and pre-operative sterilization. The role of sterilization (tool nurse) in the pre-operative care. Transport of contaminated medical devices, a two-step disinfection, a higher degree of disinfection, hygiene and surgical disinfection of the hands. Tampering with the packaging technique and operation of the apparatus at the central and pre-operative sterilization. Transport and storage of sterile medical devices. Controlling and administrating the documentation of pre-sterilization preparation and sterilization process in pre-operative care.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to acquaint the student with the issues of disinfection procedures in pre-operative care, then with the pre-sterilization preparation and sterilization of medical devices.
Student is well-versed in the field of disinfection procedures (two-step disinfection, a higher degree of disinfection, hygiene and surgical disinfection of the hands) pre-sterilization preparation and sterilization of medical devices at the workplaces of pre-operative care. Student knows the issues of central sterilization departments and pre-operative sterilization.
