Professional practice takes place in the form of direct and indirect care of clients in accordance with current legislation and under the guidance of the head of the year, an academic staff member of the faculty or a professional in the given health care facility. The procedures performed during the professional practice and all the professional activities related to the professional practice are recorded in a "Record book of procedures and other professional activities in perioperative care". Keeping the Record book is each student's responsibility. The Record book has to contain information about the procedures, as well as information about the preparation and progress of the professional practice. It also includes the objectives of the professional practice, the rights and the obligations of students, the competences of the mentors, the criteria for evaluation of students, the records of training in occupational health and safety, fire protection, the procedures in case of accidents, injuries, and an overview of attendance. Students have access to the faculty nursing documentation that they use during their professional practice. Everything is available on the student intranet. The guarantor of the practice regularly checks and evaluates the outcomes of the professional practice. They are responsible for the planning and coordination of the professional practice, provide students tutorials during their practical training and do students' evaluation. Based on students' results and according to their study plan, they draw up a further practice plan together with students. Students get credits based on a confirmation of the number of hours worked, the fulfilled compulsory procedures and a written evaluation of the student, which is prepared by a supervisor from the healthcare facility or an academic staff member of the faculty responsible for the supervising of the professional practice. Based on student's results and in accordance with the study plan, they draw up a further practice plan together with the student. Students submit their own written evaluation of their professional practice. Framework content of the professional practice: Midwifery process care for women in perioperative care. Pain management. Nutritional care of clients (nutritional screening). Education of clients in all phases of perioperative care. Organization and management in perioperative care units. Care of medical equipment in central sterilisation and perioperative care units. Carrying out the duties of a circulating midwife in the operating theatre.
