Course content
Social security system in the Czech Republic and its components. Social insurance. State social support. Material needs benefits, subsistence and living wage. Benefits for people with disabilities. Social work as part of the social security system. Social Services Act as amended. Social services. Introduction to social security legislation. Work with case studies, training in providing basic social counselling. ICT in social security (on-line forms, registers, databases) and work with them. Process of registration of social services. Quality standards for social services.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the social security system in the Czech Republic.
Students are able to apply the acquired knowledge practically in specific situations and use it when providing basic social counselling.
