Course content
Special pedagogy as a theoretical and practical branch. Terminology in special pedagogy. Target groups in social pedagogy. Development of society attitude to people with disability. Models of disability. Family context of people with disability. Current trends in the care of people with disability. Special pedagogy of people with mental and physical disabilities. Special pedagogy of people with sensory disabilities. Special pedagogy of people with behaviour disturbances. Special pedagogy of people with learning disorders and ADHD. Special pedagogy of people socially disadvantaged. Special pedagogy of people with autistic spectrum disorder. Introduction - analysis of the current situation. Special pedagogy as a multidisciplinary branch. School counselling facilities. Visiting services for people with disabilities. National support plans for people with disabilities.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course in to acquaint students with the issues concerning people with disability from the social pedagogy point of view.
Students will acquire basic information about the target groups of special education as well as the broader context of disability.

Fulfillment of the stipulated mandatory participation in seminars and lectures. Fulfillment of other conditions, written test or oral examination, as decided by the course guarantor.
