Oral examination
During the exam, the student will answer to one of the questions below and will be given a reasonable time (min. 15 min.) to prepare it. During the examination, he/she presents the knowledge of the issue and answers further questions of the examiner. Framework questions (more detailed content is given in the appendix Study materials): 1. Stereochemistry of acyclic and cyclic compounds. Isomerism and chirality at carbon. 2. Conjugated systems, resonance, polar effects. 3. Acidity and basicity of organic compounds. Electrophiles, nucleophiles and radicals. 4. Syntheses and reactions of alkanes (including mechanisms). 5. Syntheses and reactions of alkenes (including mechanisms). 6. Syntheses and reactions of alkynes (including mechanisms). 7. Syntheses and reactions of aromates (including mechanisms). 8. Syntheses and reactions of aliphatic and aromatic halides (including mechanisms). 9. Syntheses and reactions of organometallic compounds (including mechanisms). 10. Syntheses and reactions of alcohols (including mechanisms). 12. Syntheses and reactions of aldehydes and ketones (including mechanisms). 13. Syntheses and reactions of carboxylic acids and their salts (including mechanisms). 14. Syntheses and reactions of chlorides and anhydrides of carboxylic acids (including mechanisms). 15. Syntheses and reactions of esters, amides and nitriles of carboxylic acids (including mechanisms). 16. Syntheses and reactions of substitution derivatives of carboxylic acids (including mechanisms). 17. Syntheses and reactions of derivatives of carbonic acid (including mechanisms). 18. Syntheses and reactions of sulfur compounds (including mechanisms). 19. Syntheses and reactions of nitro- and nitrosocompounds, hydrazines, azocompound and diazonium salts (including mechanisms). 20.
