Course content
|
The introduction to classical theories of regions. The introduction to modern theories of regions. The descriptive statistics. The model of sustainable development. The analysis of quantitative indexes. The analysis of disparities indexes. The paradigm of regional competitiveness. The regional marketing. The internal financial resources of a region. The external financial resources of a region. Students will obtain detailed knowledge on the economic, social, political and legal context of regional development and its interaction with the object of public administration.

Learning outcomes
|
This course introduces students to the regional economy and the subject of investigation. It mainly deals with the measurement of regional flows (inputs /outputs), regional growth and its determinants. Likewise it conceives regions as part of the national and international economy. It draws attention to regional policy and its instruments which can be used for the removal of disparities and to promote regional competitiveness. Students will gain an overview of the regional economy as an integral and essential part of the economy of any modern state. They will have an overview of tools that can be used to promote competitiveness and creating the output of the regional economy. A student who successfully completed the subject can: understand the position of regional economics in the system of science, relations with other sciences, elucidate theories of regions which will enable to understand differences of development of regional economics, features of classification of regions, know ways and means of regional economics stimulation enabling to perform analysis of a region. The student who successfully completed the course will: acquire knowledge about the regional economics, theories of regions, acquire knowledge about models of sustainable development of regions, different methods of economical analysis and mathematical statistics, applied for determination of the state of an enterprise and organization in the context of the analysed region. A student who successfully completed the subject is able to: evaluate regional unevenness and factors influencing it, to think critically, analyse and evaluate reasons of the growth and development of regions and factors influencing them, to constructively and creatively evaluate aims and objectives of national economical development of regions, to calculate and analyse not only quantitative, but also qualitative indexes. A student who successfully completed the subject is able to: work independently and as the team members, critically evaluate the situation and defend their opinion, while using mathematical statistics and economical analysis, present the prepared research results to stakeholders and others.

Assessment methods and criteria

Written examination
The assignment is grated upon positive evaluation of the assigned tasks during the seminars. The examination is in written or oral form.
