Course content
Professional foreign language communication at CEFR C1 focuses on the highly diversified communication needs of students and develops their language skills such as reading various professional authentic texts with understanding and authentic listening comprehension. The subject deals with presentation skills, academic writing, stylistics and language correctness in the creation of professional articles, orientation in natural communication situations and in the environment of scientific conferences. Students are encouraged to deepen their knowledge of a wide range of grammar phenomena and their use, they work with individual concrete and abstract contexts. Emphasis is placed on understanding a wide range of demanding scholarly texts and recognizing their implicit meaning. Students develop their ability to express themselves fluently and readily, without apparent search for expressions, to flexibly and efficiently use a foreign language for social, academic and professional purposes. The ability to create comprehensible, well-arranged, detailed texts on complex topics and knowledge of the correct use of compositional formations, connecting expressions and means of cohesion are deepened.

Learning outcomes
Language course of professional English, level CEFR C1. The course focuses on various communicative needs and situations developing language skills, such as reading comprehension of authentic texts, listening comprehension of authentic material, writing various general and academic texts, idioms. Students will broaden their knowledge of grammar. Texts and listening materials reflect on factual and more abstract context.
Students will acquire ability of fluent use of previously gained knowledge at the level B2P. The exercises combine new and old knowledge, so confidence and fluency in using the language is also gained. When listening to audio recordings, speaking or writing, students will manage to communicate in complicated situations and comprehend different accents from various speaking areas.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of English at level B2P at least.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Written examination, Home assignment evaluation

Oral examination conditioned by quality elaboration of written materials in the range of 5-10 pages (professional curriculum vitae, summary of the literature studied, explanation of selected professional concepts from the field of their own professional work, the intention of the dissertation). The use of AI is prohibited in qualification and individual papers and in the outputs that form the basis for the assessment of the course. The use of AI is only permitted in accordance with the teacher's assignment for completing a particular task.
