Lectures Basic anatomy and pathophysiology of the cardiovascular system, brain, musculoskeletal system. Sudden illness / injury assessment and overview of interventions: Myocardial infarction (heart attack), cerebrovascular accident (stroke), musculoskeletal injury and other trauma, bleeding, shock. Paediatric injuries and sudden illnesses: assessment, overview of interventions, prevention. Prehospital emergency care: The role of lay responders, emergency medical services, patient transport. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation, choking (adult, child, infant), using automated external defibrillator (AED). Providing first aid to the bleeding patient, bandaging, splinting for dislocations and fractures, first aid for seizures. Seminars and practice Sudden illness / injury assessment, activating the emergency medical system, positioning the patient, patient transport. Choking (adult, child, infant). Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (adult, child, infant), AED practice. Providing first aid to the bleeding patient, bandaging, splinting for dislocations and fractures, first aid for seizures.

The aim of the course is to acquire basic knowledge and practical skills to apply first aid and field emergency care as well as to manage basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
