Course content
80 h of practicum + 8 h self-study Before the clinical placement, student will be expected to confirm that he/she understands and is capable of professional conduct and is willing to conform to the regulations of receiving institution in the Czech Republic. Students will undergo skills lab training to better understand Czech hospital practical skill requirements; this will be organized by the Faculty prior to the clinical placements. General content of the individual internship course: Nursing procedures in the Czech Republic. Becoming familiar with the system of primary, secondary, and tertiary care. Becoming familiar with regulations and standards on their placements. Applying nursing skills and principles to the care of healthy, ill, handicapped and the dying patients. Nursing - reflection. During the course the student will attend regular meetings, once every two weeks and present an interesting case report or practice experience that brought opportunity for discussion and reflection.

Learning outcomes
The course AIN is composed of 4 individual courses, varied in time frames and credits (AIN 1, AIN 2, AIN 3, and AIN 4). The courses may be combined, but each course can be signed up only once! Maximum hourly dotation of clinical placement in AIN is 320h. The aim of the course is to gain experience from the clinical practice, which will enable the student to perceive cultural differences in meeting the needs of healthy, ill, handicapped, and the dying clients/patients in individual developmental stages
Students will complete his/her internship on a placement according to his/her choice, they will become acquainted with standards and regulations for nursing care and they will be able to assess and critically evaluate cultural similarities and differences in nursing care.

Assessment methods and criteria

The exam is based on a confirmed 100% attendance at the internship, an evaluation by the mentor, a written reflection by the student, and a presentation of two case studies.
