Lectures (10h lectures/15h self-study/15h project) Anatomy and physiology of the nervous system. Nursing assessment of the neurological Patient. Assistive examination methods (EEG, EMG, CSF). Care of the patient with stroke. Care of the patient with degenerative and oncologic neurologic conditions. Care of the patient with seizures. Care of the patient with autoimmune disorders Care of the patient with neurologic trauma Care of the patient with disorders of the peripheral nervous system. Seminars and Practicum (8): Nursing assessment of the neurological Patient. Care of the patient with stroke. Care of the patient with seizures. Care of the patient with neurologic trauma.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with prevention, treatment, and nursing issues arising due to neurological illnesses and to emphasize special aspects of nursing care in neurology.
The student is able to practically apply gained theoretical knowledge, is able to identify and assess individual needs of neurological patients, plan, implement, and critically evaluate and defend the nursing process.
