Learning outcomes
The goal of the subject is to deepen and expand the knowledge and skills obtained during previous English language learning with an emphasis on technical terminology and grammar structures relevant to the field of study. In the progress of the course, attention is paid to applying the adopted language instruments and speech skills to the technical language, considering the needs of future practice (speaking and writing skills, listening and reading comprehension when working with technical texts). The course includes working with technical texts and studying materials from chemistry and biochemistry using a tutored eLearning course in LMS Moodle.
The student understands the main ideas of clearly stated input information concerning common topics, can write a simple piece of coherent text, and can give brief reasons for his or her opinions. The target level of the course is B2. Specialized texts of various chemistry branches will be studied and commented on, thus improving the overall competence of the learners and enabling them to present their own projects in English for specific purposes at the B2 level.
