Learning outcomes
The subject is aimed to enable the students to deepen and expand the knowledge and skills they acquired in all components of communicative language competence during their preceding studies, when they achieved the B2+ level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Lanugages (CEFR). It reflects the principles of academic writing and students are provided a virtual learning environment enhancing collaboration and asynchronous communication by means of an eLearning course, peer-review and self-reflection.
The student can understand the main ideas of complex texts dealing with general topics as well as their own field of specialisation. They are capable of fluent interaction in spoken communication, including conversation with a native speaker, and can write a coherent piece of text on a broad scale of topics. The target level of the course is B1+ in specific (academic) English. Module Academic Speaking: the student can give an oral presentation of the objectives, methods and results of his/her own technical project.
Prerequisites
Communicative competence on the CEFR B1 level in general English.
