Course content
Future: language of certainty and uncertainty. Innovations, making product a commercial success. Modals. Working across cultures. Language of positive and negative judgements. Reading and note-taking. Text cohesion. Text summary. Media survey in the area of IT and Electrical Engineering. Research in the area of IT and Electrical Engineering. Oral and written production in the area of IT and Electrical Engineering.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Work with text (with textbook, with book), Methods of individual activities, Skills training, Stimulating activities (simulation, games, drama)
Learning outcomes
The subject is aimed to enable the students to deepen and expand the knowledge and skills they acquired in all components of communicative language competence during their preceding studies It reflects the principles of ESP course design, emphasising enhancement of learner autonomy. The target of the course is to further improve the knowledge and skills on level B2+.
The student continues to develop the language competence acquired during his/her previous studies with an emphasis on argumentation, effective social discourse and language awareness. He/she can use co-operating strategies in conversation and mark clearly the relationships between ideas when creating complex text. He/she can use these competencies effectively in the field of general English as well as ESP.
Prerequisites
- for non-native speakers Communicative competence on the CEFR B2 level in general English.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Oral performance analysis, Self project defence

The student will complete a portfolio of his/her learning achievements based on self-assessment and setting of individual goals for each component of communicative competence. Subject completion requirements in case of a distance teaching mode: Based on the teacher´s requirements, the student participates in online lessons according to the schedule and completes the assigned tasks via the online systems Moodle / MS Teams.
