Course content
|
The initial knowledge is depended by studying the relevant and recommended literature in the professionally oriented language, the output is processed through assigned tasks. Thematic and learning areas: 1. The body (structure and diseases). 2. Social facilities. Advice and support in the doctor's office. 3. Social services. Devices in the doctor's office. 4. Communication in social and medical professions. 5. People who need help. Seniors and elderly help. 6. Perioperative care. Standardized final language exam which consits of both the written and the oral part and which also reflects the specific command of language relevant to the student´s professional needs.

Learning outcomes
|
Aims: The course is designed to develop existing language skills in job-related contexts. Students practice German for specific purposes and familiarize themselves with issues peculiar to their branch of study. Learners extend their knowledge of sorting and using current information and improve their skill in the target language. The expected entry level is B1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Learners are expected to have the skill of collecting and processing information.
Skills and competences: Learners will be able to understand complex texts , to handle topics related to medicine and to give reasons for their opinions. They will be able to draft a detailed text on a wide range of topics.

Communicative competence: CEFR B1 in specific German.

Assessment methods and criteria

Home assignment evaluation, Didactic test, Discussion
Avctive production of LSP-pages in the Mahara e-portfolio system. Standardized final language exam which consists of both the written and the oral part and which also reflects the specific command of language relevant to the student´s professional needs based on submitted assigned tasks and a seminar paper related to the specific medical topics.
