Course content
Exploration - art-historical, technological, problem identification and documentation. Concept of restoration treatment, exploration assessment, technology and procedure planning. Cleaning - cleaning methods, their specific results and problems. Bonds - bond construction and reconstruction. Stone consolidation - petrification, consolidation - basic types of materials used; application methods. Cementation - basic materials applied to plastic retouching and complements; specific characteristics. Colour retouches - basic types of colour retouches, cultural heritage concept, work interpretation and presentation. Preservation - basic types of preservation agents, their specific characteristics. Restoration documentation - methods of restoration procedure successive steps. Recommended practice for further cultural heritage item keeping.

Learning outcomes
Course objective consists in getting theoretical and practical knowledge within the field of stone restoration and preservation and related materials. Lessons are targeted at educating autonomous experts able to deal at professional level with technologists, art historians, conservationists and other parties involved in restoration process.
Students are capable of accomplishing determined steps of restoration treatment.

Oral examination

Examination is taken orally. There is examined and proved competence of complex interpretation of material studied.
