Course content
|
Restoration problems introduction, restorer ethic code Restoration documentation Artefact physical investigation (ph data, solubility tests, stripe sampling for microbiological analysis) Disinfection Paper cleaning methods Deacidification Sizing and strengthening Repairs, filling (tear repairs, filling missing parts). Flattening, pressing Summer practical staying is a part of lessons; it is arranged at conservation departments of libraries and archives. Students get acquainted with particular work places and manage basic techniques while working with archive documents and books.

Learning outcomes
|
Subject objectives consist in getting abilities in restoration techniques related to various materials (paper, wood, metal, leather, parchment), creating abilities and capabilities of analysing and managing problems within broaden framework.
Students are able to deal with restoration problems starting from simple up to demanding and complex. They are able to make a complex restoration report including photo documentation and graphic documentation.
