The aim of the course is to obtain and deepen knowledge of research methodology in general as well as in methodology of regional research. To promoting the acquisition of relevant theoretical knowledge, the course aims to encourage identification of scientific cognitive problems arising in the environment of regional development and governance, modelling of research strategies corresponding to a particular problem, analysis and assessment of regional research and assessment reports on programmes under implementation. Students will be able to notice theoretical problems of cognition in the field of regional development and governance, to conceptualise them formulating problem questions and hypotheses; professionally analyse reports on regional area research presented in professional and scientific literature, reports of applied research, discussing on both general issues of scientific cognition both particular regional development and governance research cases, showing critical view on research methodology and results analysis, seeks for objectivity, reliability, validity of research results, research ethics.
