Course content
The introduction to sustainable regional development. Conceptions of sustainable regional development. Theoretical discourse of regional sustainable development. Globalization and sustainability: political issues. Indication of regional sustainability. Evaluation and assessment of sustainable development of regions. The strategic planning and management of sustainable regional development. Development and evaluation of regional programmes. The arrangement and the implementation of local self-government programmes in the region. The arrangement and the implementation of institutions programmes in the region.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course - by knowing and understanding theoretical discourse of Sustainable regional development to be able to evaluate Regional economic, social, environmental sustainability and elaborate Regional development programmes. Students will be able: to identify the key dimensions of sustainable development and link them with the actions of strategic regional development planning and management, to analyze and identify the level of regional coherence and to develop and evaluate regional programmes; to analyze national and regional indicators of social, economic environmental sustainability and adapt them for balancing regional development policy and strategic management, to apply sustainable development measurement and evaluation models and carry out an integrated sustainable development index calculation.

Prerequisites

Assessment methods and criteria
Written examination

The assignment is grated upon positive evaluation of the assigned tasks during the seminars. The examination is in written or oral form.
