Course content
Development of hearing loss related to employment in noise risk areas and dispensarization issues including hazards and regulations for the declaration of occupational illnesses related to these conditions. Indications for spa treatment in otorhinolaryngology. Phonosurgery and surgical treatment of laryngeal stenosis. Nursing care aiming to prevent complications and the development of compartment syndrome in oncosurgical procedures involving the neck area. One-day surgery in otorhinolaryngology: nursing care aspects. The role of the general nurse and the decision-making process when rendering aid to patients in an urgent and critical otorhinolaryngological condition. Patients with a permanent tracheostomy: Psychosocial aspects. Patients with a voice disorder: Psychosocial aspects.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is to acquaint students with the newest knowledge in otorhinolaryngology and in surgery of the head and neck and to acquaint students with new diagnostic and treatment procedures that they can perform or assist with. Emphasis is placed upon effectiveness and innovation of nursing procedures and on the psychosocial impact of selected ENT illnesses.
Students will be required to acquire new knowledge from domestic as well as foreign sources (EBN) and to exert efforts to develop educational materials based on these sources. Student education will focus on problem-solving using creative/scientific methods and on applying gained knowledge to nursing practice.
