Learning outcomes
|
Based on the characteristics of the entry level of B1+, the aim of the study subject is providing the extension of general vocabulary and its enrichment in terms of the relevant terminology, the practise of the corresponding language means and obtaining the skills (speaking, writing, listening and reading) applicable both in the area of general language as well as the language for specific purposes, expected at the level B2.
Students who successfully complete the course can: Handle job interviews, define objectives of a business meeting; Place orders; Write selected formats of business correspondence; Handle applications in the banking sector and payment transactions; Categorize job opportunities, write a motivation letter and communicate personal information at a job interview. Students who successfully complete the course can use the relevant language subskills on B2 level CEFR with the aim to: Understand longer utterances and lectures; Understand articles and reports where the authors express particular opinions and attitudes; Express their opinion about a wide range of profession-related topics; list advantages and drawbacks of certain solutions; Write logically structured argumentation and summarize information from different sources. Students who successfully complete the course: Can handle complex communication situations in a foreign language context; Have sufficient vocabulary range to communicate the field relating issues in connection to general topics; Use the correct language structures.

Prerequisites
|
- for non-native speakers Communicative competence: CEFR B1+ in general Russian. Meeting the requirements of the EPREF course in all 4 skills in ESP.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Didactic test
Attending 70% of the sessions Completion of all prescribed assignments Exam/ Credit is based on the summary of materials/topics covered in the sessions.
