Institutions of Translators and Interpreters in the Czech Republic. The role of an official interpreter. Reflection of justice in movies. Compiling official correspondence (CV, formal letters). Definitions of Law. Division of Law - Criminal ,Civil and Commercial Law. Law and Order. Crime and Punishment. Law of Contract. Translating Official Documents.

Learning outcomes
|
The course aims at the extension of a learner´s vocabulary by specific, professionally oriented terminology. Special attention is paid to the appropriate language skills (speaking, writing, and reading comprehension) applied to English for specific purposes. The course syllabus includes practical work with authentic materials. The course links with the knowledge acquired in previous courses in specific English. Starting level B2.
Upon a successful completion of the course, the student is able to independently and effectively communicate in professionally oriented situations within the framework of the course contents. The student has a general overview of the role of an official interpreter. Using relevant aids, the student is able to translate formal documents in both directions (CZ-ENG-CZ).
