Course content
Placement test. Introduction to each other. Question forms. Opinions, discussion, agreement, disagreement. Modal verbs. Travel, rail, bus travel, conversation, situations. Present Perfect Simple, Present Perfect Continuous. Music collocations. Past Tenses: Past Simple, P. Continuous. Homes. Future tenses: will/Present Continuous, going to. Presentation. Staying at a hotel, school dorms, situations. Make v. Do. Conditionals. Complex language exam based on the standardized testing materials and including both the receptive and the productive language skills.

Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming), Work with text (with textbook, with book), Skills training, Stimulating activities (simulation, games, drama)
Learning outcomes
The subject provides more space for the expansion of the knowledge and skills obtained during the previous studies. An emphasis is put on the development of the abilities to apply the adopted language instruments and speech skills to the needs of an effective communication in the practice after graduation (speaking and writing skills, listening and reading comprehension when working with technical and general texts).
The student can understand the main ideas of clear input information, he can deal with most of the situations, that can happen during travelling. He can describe his dreams, hopes, experience and feelings, he can also explain his opinions and plans. The target level is B1.
Prerequisites
The student is supposed to be capable of language competence at A2+ level, basic grammar structures, basic general and professional vocabulary to allow us follow up with further specific vocabulary acquirement. The student can communicate by means of simple and common tasks in the basic life and career situations.

Assessment methods and criteria
Didactic test, Student portfolio analysis

The credit will be given on the basis of prepared and presented semestral paper on an assigned theme and on the basis of the end-term test.
