Course content
Work day in the hospital. The station, orders and brief notes. Activities: making beds, washing at the sink, eating in the hospital. Wishes and prohibitions. Measuring and documenting the results. Blood pressure, temperature, pulse, blood count. Documentation of the medication. The recording and the telephone conversation. Preparation for surgery. Nursing documentation. The body. The structure, circulation system. Organs and their specific disorders.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to develop the basic language skills, to improve abilities to handle information in various specific discourses with the aim to increase interest in German learning and using, to consolidate knowledge and command of the German grammar structures, to extend the passive and active command of basic medical vocabulary, to obtain knowledge on how to communicate in German with doctors, patients, and colleagues both home and abroad.
Skills and competences: Learners will be able to understand complex texts, to handle job-related topics and to give reasons for their opinions. They will be able to draft a detailed text on a specific range of medical topics.
Prerequisites
Communicative competence: CEFR A2 in general German.

Home assignment evaluation, Didactic test

Student requirements Portfolio of assignments submitted by a given date. Written test (pass mark 60%).
