Learning outcomes
|
The course is designed for students with a specific interest in British modernism of the first half of the Twentieth century. A representative selection of literary works will be placed in the context of the dynamic cultural atmosphere, technological progress and socio-political events because their extent makes the period one of the most unique in recent history. The core of the course is a detailed thematic, formal and stylistic analysis of works by authors who adhered to experimental and avant-garde tendencies (J. Conrad, V. Woolf, D.H. Lawrence a J. Joyce). Thus, the learning outcomes will be the development of not only theoretical knowledge, but also of students' ability of independent critical approach to a literary text acquired in previous courses.
Students will acquire textual and analytical literary competence in specific literary areas.
