Course content
Czech language grammar - morphology and syntax. Parts of speech, dividing criteria and communicative functions. Grammatical meaning of names. Form system of nouns, development. Form system of adjectives, exceptions in expressing grammatical forms. Form systems of pronouns and numerals. Verb categories, their communicative functions. System and communicative functions of other parts of speech. Sentence and utterance. Syntactic relations and parts of sentence. Complex sentences in Czech language.

Learning outcomes
This course intends to activate and supplement knowledge and skills related to the Czech language which will improve the quality of both spoken and written forms of communication. These courses will predominantly consist of interpreting and discussing the stylistics of authentic texts. The choice of linguistic and stylistic issues is predominantly related to the use in communication for technical purposes. Apart from presenting an outline of the development of both the past and present Czech language situation, it will provide an insight into various linguistic layers, styles, and areas of communication.
The students will get familiar with Czech morphological norm. They will be able to adapt the text according to the comunicational situation. They will become familiar with Czech grammar books and are able to work with them.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written examination, Home assignment evaluation, Oral performance analysis

Compulsory attendance. Preparedness and active participation in the seminars. Final written test.
