Learning outcomes
These courses aim to develop the students' communicative competence in English. Students will develop their proficiency through both written and spoken forms, as a means of communicating in a variety of real situations. They will develop efficient use of the acquired means of language, but also practice their receptive abilities. Also introduced are strategies and techniques useful for the students' analysis of their own study needs, helping them in independent work. Though the underlying base of this course is formed by the Received Standard, students are also introduced to other varieties of English.
Students will acquire linguistic, sociolinguistic and pragmatic competence. Focus is placed on grammatical and lexical accuracy, and fluency with regard to appropriate style.
