Course content
12 basic themes: 1. Pitching your ideas - persuasive speech, effective communication of ideas, projections and thoughts 2. Reformulating and clarifying - solving problems of communication snags, misunderstandings, misinterpretations, etc. 3. Effective meetings - strategies used to achieve effective and productive discussions and negotiations 4. Challenging facts politely - appropriate ways of challenging facts and dealing with similar difficult situations in meetings 5. Exploring options - negotiation techniques and process 6. Finding solutions - brainstorming and discussion techniques 7. Reporting and planning - effective reporting and planning, dealing with change and challenging decisions 8. Presenting research data - the importance and impact of research data 9. Building relationship on trust - strategies used to build a healthy professional relationship with a business partner or client 10. Business networking - techniques used for networking in a business relationship 11. Mediating conflict - mediating difficult situations and conflicts between colleagues etc. 12. Handling a performance review - how to handle job performance reviews and feedback

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to introduce students to a real practical business English environment and to train them in business and communication skills that they will put into practice.

Assessment methods and criteria
Home assignment evaluation, Student performance assessment, Presentation

1. Attendance - maximum of 3 missed lessons and active participation in the class 2. Completion of all weekly assignments on Moodle on time 3. Presentation - each student will prepare a presentation that will take approximately 15 minutes. Topics will be given and agreed upon. Students are expected to research the topic and deliver the presentation without reading. 4. Glossary - students will use the shared glossary on Moodle to record new vocabulary connected with topics and presentations. Each student will be responsible for the vocabulary related to their presentation and the related topic. 5. Test - to successfully finish the course and to achieve a credit, students must pass a final test. The test will check vocabulary and knowledge gained during the classes from particular topics studied. (70% to pass)
