Course content
Základem jsou praktické workshopy zaměřené na práci s internetovými zdroji a s programy, které má FF k dispozici v multilicencích nebo na CD-ROM. Introduction into ICT 4 ELT. Language learning software, language multimedia courses, hands-on session. Dictionaries on CD-ROM and on-line dictionaries. Working with English language corpora and concordancers. British National Corpus, Corpus of Contemporary American English. Encyclopaedias and other resources used for ELT. Other on-line ELT resources (activities developing communicative skills, games and quizzes, resources for teachers). Common programmes used for ELT. Working with pictures, video, music; creating a team project. Testing programmes and authoring tools. Strategies of electronic communication, language of chats and forums. Learning management systems, Mahara software, ePortfolio

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to demonstrate students multimedia programmes and other on-lime sources English language teaching and learning and to teach them to use these sources to practice appropriate communicative skills and subskills. They will learn the new potential of information technology and principles of on-line communication.
Students will be able to work with ready-made language programmes, testing programmes, electronic dictionaries, encyclopaedias and authentic on-line materials. During hands-on sessions, they will acquire necessary ICT skills and ELT methodology expertise, so that they will be able to evaluate multimedia materials critically and to use them for developing communicative skills of their pupils. Students will be able to use some simple authoring tools and on-line concordancers. They will be capable to use new applications appropriately (concordancers for the sudy of vocabulary in context, use of video and audio material in project work) and to control on-line communication effectively.

Active participation (maximum 2 classes can be missed) assignments according to instructions specified in lessons submitting the project on using multimedia for ELT (in electronic version) + presentation of the project in the class.
