Topics: BE teaching and learning 1. General Purpose English and Business English (BE) 2. BE learner and teacher 3. Current trends in BE 4. Syllabus design. 5. Analysing the needs of the learners (defining the learning purpose and course objectives, one-to-one v. group tuition). 6. Determining the content of the course. 7. Didactic means (activities and materials, their selection and evaluation) 8. Feedback, evaluation and assessment. Topics: Business English 1. Commercial correspondence. 2. Telephoning. 3. Applying for a job (documentation, interviews). 4. Meetings (cultural differences) 5. Socialising and social networking (small talk, polite requests and offers, how to initiate a conversation, cultural aspects). 6. Money matters. 7. Selected topics from management, marketing, sectors of industry, and types of companies.

Learning outcomes
|
The course is aimed at not only theoretical but also practical acquisition of the aspects of Business English learning/teaching. Students will also develop their communicative competence in the specific area and general business skills.
Based on the relevant theoretical background, the course evolves specific skills used in learning/teaching Business English.
