Course content

Organisational and administrative issues of integration of Project I with Teaching practice I. Project tasks: Videoconferences 1. Give an account of your ideas and expectations for your teaching of English at primary and lower-secondary level. What is important? What are the factors needed to stimulate learning? 2. Present a plan of a lesson you would like to have in lower-secondary school. 3. What is the system of education (compulsory education, national and/vs. local requirements, etc.)? How is primary /or lower-secondary education organized? 4. What curricular documents are used at various levels of education? Who is responsible for their creation? 5. What must be fulfilled in terms of those documents (aims, content, expected outcomes, grading/classification, etc.)? 6. Do the curricular documents reflect special educational needs of kids? In what ways? How does the schooling system deal with those kids? 7. What is the status of primary/lower-secondary teachers as defined by those documents, standards of their profession, lifelong learning, salaries, working conditions, etc.? 8. What is the role of ICT in lessons, mother tongue in ELT, etc.? Professional competence of the English language teacher - evaluating the quality of instruction (a-a-a methodology): theoretical input, analysis of the video-recording as a reflective technique.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of Project I, which is integrated with Teaching Practice I, is to focus the attention on some specific aspects of the teaching profession by means of various reflective strategies and techniques including its instruments.
The student develops the professional competence by means of reflecting on the experience acquired during Teaching Practice I both at the level of school as an institution and at the level of teaching English in the classroom.

The credit is obtained after fulfilling the following requirements: 1. Written analysis of the video recorded in UCPX1 (according to AAA methodology). 2. Oral presentation of a project focused on evaluating two different educational systems. 3. Final interview (integrated with UCPX1). 4. Attendance (VCs)
