Course content
Reformation movement. The changes and innovations in educational system in the Czech Republic during the 1990s. The concept of school and education. School as an open institution and its relation to family, municipality and wider community. A teacher, their rights, duties and needs. A teacher and a learner - the conditions of efficiency of educational process. Evaluation. Chosen current problems of pedagogy - learners with special needs, learners from different socio-cultural background (foreigners, ethnic minorities).

Learning outcomes
The objective of this course is to understand the changes and transformational attempts of the 1990s and to understand them in the reality of school system connected with the present days. Students will gain the knowledge of trends and concepts of current pedagogy from the point of view of the whole world and especially of European countries (EU). Students will understand the aims, means and conditions of a complex educational process from the point of view of individual development and social requirements. Students will understand the current role of a teacher and the conditions of his/her successful activities. They will be able to find information individually, to process it effectively, to analyze it and judge it critically.
Students will also be able to find information individually, to process it effectively, to analyze it, and to evaluate it critically, as well as to form their own opinion on the diversity of pedagogical theories and concepts. They will be able to reflect on their own experiences from their existing educational career, and to evaluate these in relation to pedagogical theories.

Compulsory attendance (both lectures and seminars)- only 2 classes missing Compulsory attendance (1 visit of a school - presentation in the seminar) Critical essay (3 sources at least; 3 pages) (Only student´s original work will be accepted!) Essay on specific topic (BADEGRUBER, B. Otevřené učení ve 28 krocích) + group discussion A list of studied literature (at least 10 entries - monographs, articles, studies, online sources and so on). Portfolio (mind maps, list of literature, 2 annotations) Oral exam.
