Course content
The notions of style, text type, register and genre. Different approaches to genre (SFL, ESP, New Rhetoric). Top-down and bottom-up approach. Genre colony. Typology of genres (e.g. promotional, research, narrative, reporting genres). Genre analysis. Topological and typological approach to genre. Multimodality and genre.

Students will be able to assess texts with respect to the communicative aim, generic structure and lexico-grammatical features.
