Introduction; Theoretical fundamentals of analytical chemistry; Chemical equilibriums in solutions; Expression of target compound content in solutions; Processing of analytical results Principles of qualitative analysis of inorganic compounds; Isolation and identification of selected ions Sample pretreatment - inorganic and organic samples, sampling, decomposition, pre concentration; Application for the environmental analysis and for analysis of working environment Principles of quantitative analysis of inorganic compounds Protolytic reactions, definitions of constants, pH, analytical application of protolytic reactions Acid-basic titrations, titration curves and their evaluation The modes of titration stop indication, examples of determinations; Titrations in non-water environment Complexing reactions, stability constants, effect of side reactions, shielding Chelatometric titrations, indicators, examples of applications including the selected mixtures determination Red-ox reactions, standard and formal potential, effect of side reactions; Principles of most important oxidimetric and reductometric volumetric methods The course of red-ox titration curve, indication, typical examples of application Precipitation reactions, solubility and solubility product, solubility affecting, precipitate properties, precipitate creation and condition selections for precipitation Examples of determinations, principles of precipitation titrations, indication, titration curves; Fundamentals of gravimetric analysis

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of this course is to supply information to students about fundamentals of chemical analysis, i.e. to introduce them the basic principles of qualitative and quantitative analyses of compounds.
Students after graduation of this course are able to orientate oneself in the field of qualitative and mainly quantitative analytical methods, is introduced with the principles of individual volumetric and gravimetric methods including the sample pre-treatment methods.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Oral examination, Written examination, Student performance assessment
The examination consists of written part followed by the oral examination. During the semester the gained knowledge of students from lectures and seminar practices are checked up by two written tests which results are the part of the total classification. Current check of study - 2 written tests - 30 % of grade, written part of examination - 10 %, oral examination - 60 %.
