Course content
Lecture topics by week of the semester: 1. Investment aim. Contracts and other aspects of project. Main designer, main supplier, kinds of project drawings. 2. Technical documentation, its structure and range. 3. The study of controlled technology. Relation between technology and automation. PID diagram. Description of technological functions. 4. Analysis of controlled system. Questionnare method, method of similarity. Search. Feedback information. 5. List of control loops and equipments of measurment and control. 6. Technical standards. Safety of operation, effects of surroundings. 7. Hardware and software tools for design. Uniform philosophy during design. 8. Final products of design, tenders. Types of output documentation. Strategy and tactics durings tender. 9. Software part of project. Control algorithms, blockages, charts, balance calculations, communication sotware. 10. Production information sofware, laboratory information systém. Relation among technological and economic information system. 11. Design and testing sofware for control systems. Final products of programming and their archiving. Simulation, partial and complex tests, optimization during produce. 12. Project from the begining to succsessful end. Monitoring and managing project works in company´s information systém. Designer supervision. CPM and PERT methods. 13. Guarantee and postguarantee service. Periodical prophylaxis, service contract. The content of the exercises corresponds to the topics of the lectures.

Learning outcomes
The aim of subject: to explain students all important aspects of desing of control systems from pilot project through detailed project, implementaion to guarantee and postguarantee service.
After completing the course, the student knows the basic concepts and links in project activities, is able to describe the various stages of project activities, knows the methods for analysis of controlled technological process, is familiar with the standards, knows and is able to describe all project documentation components , is able to get all parts of the control systém from subcontractors, knows all activities necessary for implementation, testing and putting the control system into permanent operation and has an idea of fulfilling warranty service.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of automation and automatic control.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Home assignment evaluation, Student performance assessment

Participation in seminars is required. Students will independently study the necessary standards and rules. To receive credit, students will prepare a semester paper.
